Earlier this week I tore my apartment apart in the sake of cleaning and sanity. In the process, I found many UFOs (Un-Finished Objects, in knit-speak.) 24 of them. 24! That is for sure too many for one knitter. I made a list and vowed to finish at least three for every new project I start.
Here is the first thing I checked off of the list. Tam C, from the Winter 2007 issue of Knitty. I used Crystal Palace Yarn’s Aran and of course, the lovely Noro Silk Garden. Although the pattern calls for a white main color, I liked the peach too much to resist
It is going into the Christmas gift pile.
Still on the needles:
- Striped Tunic
- Marlene socks
- Fake bear skin rug
- Potholder bag
- Veyla fingerless lace mittens
- Neon pink mohair dress (!!!)
- Brown mittens…that I meant to finish and mail to Adam in 2010
- Record bag…that I remember working on when I worked at a call center in 2010
- Bunny with one leg (eek!)
- Felted Lopi bag…that I started when I LIVED IN THE DORMS
- Weird thing with blue and grey circles I started in Buffalo, Winter 2008
- Crochet bunny…meant to be the central character in a knit picture book I almost made
- White cashmere Whisper cardigan…bought this yarn when the yarn shop I worked for went under in 2009
- Purple tweed mittens
- Peaks Island Scarf
- Stretchy tank…meant to seam in 2007. Bought this yarn when I visited Kent State University
- Scarp-yarn hoodie
- Random granny square….object. No idea when this was/is supposed to be
- Purple and green granny square….thing
- Striped scarf
Looks like I will start on the knit tunic!

I crocheted this lil’ thing the other day and wore it out on the town the same evening. Eddie Olschansky snapped this picture in motion.
I used a cotton worsted weight and a g hook. I started with the two “triangles” and worked my way down, increasing at the edges and adding ties until it was…more shirt like?
I finally wore the Gemini pullover I began way back when. Using Debbie Bliss Wool Cotton and a #US 7, i whipped it up with few problems. It is reversible but I like the lacey part facing towards the front. I got the yarn at the thrift store so it cost me about $5 at the most.
The bag is also new. I crocheted it from this very strange gauzey, ropey nylon ribbon chord? Who knows how long this stuff sat in the trunk of my car before I figured out what to do with it. I had never seen any material remotely like it so when I saw it at Goodwill, I snapped it right up. I wish I had better pictures of it! The gold chain handles are from JoAnn and just hook right on. I could potentially use them on other purses.

I recently fell into a lot of cotton yarn made right here in the USA (thanks Dad!) and I have been thinking of stuff I could make and sell without having to make it all into dishcloths.
Here is what I came up with:
So ladies of Kent, OH and beyond….. If you want a cute lil’ bikini bra/top… let me know! I have tons and tons of color options and for only $25… why not?
Morgan, rocking some pop-tab bracelets and floral headband. It is summer so let me know if you’d like your own set. Bracelets are $2 a piece and 3 for $5. Floral headbands are $20 to $25, depending on leaves and buttons.
I found this denim halter and leather briefcase at the Village Discount Outlet in Akron. I know I am going to wear the daylights out of them both.
And ya know what? It’s going to be a good summer. I can can feel it radiating through me but that may just be my first sunburn:)
…expect a new sweater, soon!
